Amerigo is a dressage saddle designed by Peter Menet. The Amerigo is built in such a way as to allow the horse to round his back more easily as well as achieve collection by having the hind legs well under him. This is achieved by the dressage saddle design seating the rider slightly more forward than usual which puts the rider over the strongest part of the horse. Built on a wood tree with independant panels, this means that they are not an integral part of the sweat flap. As the panels are stuffed with wool flocking this shapes to the individual horses back. There are various different models of Amerigo dressage saddle including the Vega and Alto. The Vega is built on a  synthetic tree strengthened and made more stable by having a steel head iron. What this means is that the Vega fits the vast majority of horses so a good choice if you are watching the funds.

Podkhajsky Dressage Saddles

The Ideal Podhajsky Dressage saddle has an illustrious history. It was originally designed over 20 years ago as a result of a meeting with Alfred Adams, Col. Alois Podhajsky and the then director of the Spanish Riding School before the design was purchased by Ideal.

The Podhajsky saddle has been used throughout the Spanish Riding School in training and working with the Lipizzaner horses. Interestingly the Podhajsky dressage saddle uses normal length girth straps such as those used in GP saddles, this is because Col. Podhajsky felt that it was kinder and more comfortable for the horse.

A step on from the Jessica dressage saddle comes the Ideal Jessica Professional which is designed on a special saddle tree having a bigger panel to facilitate a larger bearing area to help distribute weight more evenly, with a wide gullet to enable the saddle to fit over a larger area of the withers whilst still allowing maximum freedom of movement through the shoulder.

With larger kneerolls than it's sister, the Jessica Professional is an affordable and stylish dressage saddle.
